My time in London was spent with a very special woman that I've known for quite a long time. We have watched each other go through different evolutions of life. Some of you may know her as Skinny Latte, or you may know her as Phil the adventurer. Or, Phil the weight loss success story. I know her as Philippa; a wonderful friend to have in my life.
Getting caught up with her was so much fun! It had been over four years since we last saw each other. It was truly as if time had never skipped a beat. Ms Latte has expanded her family to include a husband since we last met up. Meeting Tom was so much fun. They are quite the dynamic duo. A perfect match in my opinion! We got caught up on how our lives have evolved and talked about dreams we had going forward. Sharing in those moments of life make everything worth while. Even when we have moments of doubt it is always nice to have a friend that will be in your cheering section of life. I have to say I admire her tenacity to succeed in all that she does. My hope going forward is we won't have to wait another four years to see each other again.
My first night in town was spent laughing and enjoying the company of Phil & Tom. It was the best remedy for jetlag. That and Phil's amazing cooking! This was the evening where the quest for the children's book Naughty Bus began. Everywhere I go I buy kids books for my nephew and nieces that are local to where I am. This book was worth the adventure all across London to find. We did end up finding it on my last day in town. Fun adventure to get there.
One of my favorite things I did in London was walk with Phil to work one morning and try to retrace my steps back to her flat. I am happy to report that I was able to do it. However, I did manage to pick up a couple of blisters on my feet. No worries. They eventually healed somewhere around day 4 of my Greece trip. The sights that Ms Latte gets to see on her way to work include the following:
I believe Phil said the route to work is about 3.5 miles one way. I did it round trip with a few fun stops along the way. Over 7 miles of walking in one day. This explains why I have blisters on my feet! It was worth it though. So very worth it!
My last night in town was spent meeting with some of Phil's friends and celebrating the one year anniversary of Phil & Tom's wedding. It was celebrated by the cutting of the cake. Wow, was this cake tasty! Below are some pictures of the fun.
What a night! I did manage to get a couple of visits in to different museums while I was there. There is so much history and art to experience when you visit London. Always take the time to see it!
What was so special to me about this trip was having the moment of two old friends catching up. It was a pleasure to see Phil in her new surroundings. She fits in like a perfect glove to a hand. We shared some of our ups and downs we've experienced over the years in a heart to heart setting. At some point her husband suggested we record the conversation. What followed was a podcast about manifesting our dreams. The things we've learned along the way.
Here is a link to that podcast click here scroll down and click on the podcast play button. For a quick recap see this post on Skinny Latte's blog.
It was such a special time in London. Thank you Phil, Tom, and all your wonderful friends for making my visit so memorable. What a way to kick off a journey of the heart.
Next up.... the beginning of the Greece Journey.
